Understanding the Difference Between Emotions and Feelings through Mood Journaling

We sometimes use the words "emotion" and "feeling" interchangeably. Here are some differences between them:

The difference between emotions and feelings is that emotions are a response to something you've experienced, while feelings are more general and can be triggered by many different things.

Emotions are the result of your body's response to an external stimulus—whether it be something you see, hear, smell, or taste. You can think of them as being automatic responses to your environment.

For example: if you see someone crying because they just found out their dog died, you might feel sad too. This is because sadness is an emotion that we experience when we're exposed to situations where other people are feeling sad or upset.

Feelings are different from emotions in that they're not linked to any one specific event or situation. They're more general responses to life and its ups and downs—they're what happens when you experience an emotion and then try to understand why it happened in the first place!
